On the 6th anniversary of Piotr Szczęsny’s death, 29 November 2023, we met in front of the Polish Embassy in London to commemorate all those that did not make it until the removal of the autocratic and anti-democratic government in Poland. Piotr Szczęsny advocated for greater involvement of the Polish society in politics and in defending the human rights. Among other things, he demanded the rule of law and protested against breaching the constitution by the PiS government.
It has become our traditon to read Piotr Szczęsny’s letter, in which he wrote:
“I ask you to remember that PiS voters are our mothers, brothers, neighbours, friends and colleagues. We must not wage a war against them (as this is what PiS would like to do), nor try to ‘convert’ them (as this would be naive). They must only act abiding the law and the rules of democracy”.
